THE SEASONS AT LOURENS RIVER GUESTHOUSE: The Western Cape has a Mediterranean climate : hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Summer may be windy, especially when "the Cape Doctor" (a strong south-easter) blows. Fortunately, the mild temperatures make the Helderberg area a comfortable destination all year round. SUMMER: NOVEMBER till MARCH Our summer months are very dry, hot and windy. The wind stops from February on. Please remember to bring hats and lots of sunscreen. The vegetation starts changing from thick lush green bush to a slightly sparser browning colour. Sun burns. BIG TIME! Use a lot of sun protection even in the shade. The vegetation becomes brown and trees start losing leaves. WINTER: MID JUNE till MID AUGUST Cold temperatures are experienced at night and at dawn during our winter months. Warm clothing is recommended.It rains a lot and afterward everything starts to become green agan. SPRING: AUGUST till OCTOBER Your can feel that spring is around the corner from the middle of August onwards (normally). The rivers and the dams are filled and everything is blossoming.
