Lourens River Guesthouse / Bed and Breakfast / Self-catering

Meals

Breakfast is a major event: prepared with loving care by Thomas very morning using a combination of fresh local and German products. The best way for the guests on holiday is to have breakfast @ 8:30h, because than you will get fresh crisp rolls (like in those old days in Germany), crunchy health bread, or Brezl and Weißwurst, salami, gipsy ham, local cheese, fresh fruits, yoghurt and too much to mention, just see below list.
If you are on business and you need to be on time for a meeting or an appointment, you can have breakfast from as early as 6:30h. Special diets are catered for upon request (vegetarian, diabetes, food allergies…). Oh shame; you just booked self-catering and see the other guests diving into their breakfast, do not worry, be happy and book breakfast for as little as R 35 per person.

BREAKFAST IS AS PERSONAL AS IT IS DELICIOUS….

If you can stay longer, you will probably enjoy one of our famous South African Braais with German influence. As South Africa is a meat country we offer chicken, lamb, boere wors (indigenous spiced sausage), skilpatijes (liver wrapped in fat net) and or ostrich. Sometimes we even cater Springbok or Zebra.

This comes with the traditional braai broitkje (sandwich with onion, tomato and cheese), salad, vegetable (gem squash, butternut, mealie, potato, mushrooms…).

Even if some of this sounds exotic to your taste buds, you should try it. We would not serve anything you could not enjoy. For more detailed information on some of the above please check out our recipes

Braai from R100 per person (depends on what kind of meat)
Breakfast R 35 per person

Or enjoy dining in nearby gourmet restaurants. We have menus of some of the places available and are happy to phone and make a reservation for you.
